The Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) has welcomed incentives announced under the Export Promotion Mission (EPM), describing the initiative as a timely step that could support India’s apparel exports and sourcing capabilities across global markets.
According to the AEPC, the programme could support both emerging apparel brands and established exporters by strengthening access to global customers and improving capacity to fulfil large orders. The AEPC described the measures as timely support expected to help apparel manufacturers and exporters reach international buyers more effectively, especially the MSMEs.
Dr. A. Sakthivel, Chairman of AEPC, said, “The Export Promotion Mission will serve both as a strategic cushion against global uncertainties and as a powerful catalyst to unlock emerging opportunities in new and established markets.”
He added, “The Mission’s most powerful feature is its comprehensive ‘360-degree support’ that addresses every critical stage of the export journey: raw material procurement, compliance, logistics, branding, marketing, and financing. This holistic framework empowers small suppliers and Indian brands to reach global customers through e-commerce channels while enabling larger players to deliver high-volume orders to major markets.”
Industry observers also point to upcoming trade agreements with markets such as the United Kingdom and the European Union as potential drivers for apparel exports. These trade agreements are expected to provide massive tariff advantages for Indian suppliers serving international retail and sourcing partners.
India’s textile and apparel sector remains a major contributor to merchandise exports. Data from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and India Brand Equity Foundation indicate that apparel and textile exports together exceed $35 billion annually, supporting extensive manufacturing networks and employment across the country.
The AEPC stated it will continue working with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to facilitate implementation of the mission and help manufacturers connect with global sourcing opportunities.
